Dental software: comparing programmes for a dental practice, with NZOK and their prices
For an NZOK practice: off-the-shelf software with reporting to PIS and NZIS. Dentist, Hipokrat D, DinoDent, Niset-Dent, Denteu and AIDOO at the prices listed on their websites as of 17.10.2026, the three-year cost and when it makes sense to build your own system.
For dentists and managers of dental practices and clinics who are choosing software or considering a custom system and online booking.
Saitami's dental system is for a growing clinic: website bookings go straight into the dentist's calendar, the patient record includes X-rays and scans, the treatment plan is written from the dental chart, and consumables are issued per procedure, with the invoice in the same system: it costs €3,000-€29,300, usually around €8,600, across 98 of our quotes as of 14 August 2026. Reporting to NZOK through PIS and records in NZIS remain in dental software: from the free DinoDent, through Niset-Dent at 150 € per year per workstation and Dentist with a licence costing 180,00 € including VAT for one computer, to the cloud-based Denteu from 18,40 € and AIDOO with NZOK for 40 € per month for the first dentist.
We have not built reporting to NZOK or integration with NZIS so far, and these remain in the dental software. The dental clinic at demo.mmm.software is a demo with sample data that you can open and click through.
Below: what the software needs to support according to NZOK and NZIS, the seven products that practices in Bulgaria actually use or consider, how to calculate the three-year cost when one provider counts computers, another doctors and a third users, and when a custom system is worth it.
Dental system by Saitami
Our recommendation for a clinic with several rooms, a reception desk and a supplies storeroom: bookings from the website straight into the calendar, treatment plans, aesthetic procedures and invoices in one system. Reporting to NHIF remains in the dental software.
Ready-made dental programme
Reports to PIS, consultations, prescriptions and referrals in NHIS, dental chart and schedule, for tens or hundreds of euros per year.

The facts come from each product's public page, read on the date next to the link. A figure we could not read there is not included on the page.
| Product | What it is and how you pay | Who it is for | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dentist (EMG Soft) | A desktop program for NHIF and private patients: reports to NHIF, data submitted to NZIS for outpatient activity, prescriptions and medical notes, electronic patient records, and an appointment schedule. The provider says that “more than 1800 dental practitioners” use it. A Dentist licence costs 180,00 € incl. VAT for one computer, with no expiry; updates after the year of purchase are bought for each calendar year. Dentist Server for group practices is subscription-based by number of dentists, “for the purchased period”: 245,42 € for one user and 122,71 € per user for 2 to 10 users, incl. VAT. The same company also offers the cloud-based Ovelon Dental CRM. | An individual practice that wants to pay the licence once and work on the computer in the surgery. | emgsoft.net, Dentist prices as of 17 October 2026 |
| Hipokrat D (Kontraks) | A program installed locally in the practice, “fully integrated with the systems of NZIS, NHIF and NSSI”: electronic patient records, e-prescriptions, e-referrals and a scheduling module. Price: from 159,52 € excl. VAT for one doctor, annual subscription, including updates, initial installation, setup and training. | A practice that wants the software installed on-site and an annual subscription including installation, setup and training. | hipokrat.bg, Hipokrat D as of 17 October 2026 |
| DinoDent | A free open-source program “developed for dental practitioners”: outpatient reports and financial documents submitted to the PIS, health insurance status checks, e-dental examinations, e-prescriptions, e-referrals and e-medical notes in NZIS, signing with a signature tablet, Google Calendar and SMS via Mobica. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux; the latest version is from 10.10.2026. The website is honest that “you will not find CRM or financial functionality” in it, nor warehouse management or a connection to a cash register. | A practice that only needs NHIF, NZIS and patient records, and does not want to pay for a licence. | dinodent.bg as of 17 October 2026 |
| Niset-Dent (Niset) | A desktop program with reporting to the PIS of NHIF and the RHI, XML reporting, electronic-signature signing, and downloading and processing e-referrals, electronic examinations and prescriptions in NZIS. For individual practices: a 12-month licence for one workstation costs 150 €, including updates; the number of licences does not depend on the number of doctors. The website does not specify VAT; for group practices, the price is by quotation. | A practice with one computer and several doctors who work on it. | niset.bg, Niset-Dent as of 17 October 2026 |
| Denteu | A cloud-based program that “works anywhere through any web browser”: NHIF, NZIS, outpatient forms, e-prescriptions, dental charting, calendar, SMS and Viber notifications through packages. A subscription for one user starts at 18,40 € per month (annual subscription 202,47 €); for 3-4 users, it starts at 46,01 € per month. The website does not specify VAT. | A doctor who wants to open the schedule and patient records from home as well, without a server in the practice. | denteu.com as of 17 October 2026 |
| AIDOO Dental | A cloud-based program compatible with NZIS for outpatient forms, e-prescriptions and medical notes, with a calendar, treatment plans, photos and invoicing. The basic package for practices that do not work with NHIF costs 30 € per month for the first account and 14,80 € for each additional account; the NHIF package costs 40 € per month and 19,90 € for each additional account. Assistant and administrator accounts are free, and the first month is a trial. The website does not specify VAT. | A practice with assistants and an administrator who need to see the schedule without paying for an account for each of them. | aidoo.bg, prices as of 17 October 2026 |
| SuperDoc (booking only, not patient-record software) | A platform for booking appointments with doctors online, with a profile, calendar, and free SMS, Viber and email reminders. Superdoc Standard costs 30,68 € per doctor per month incl. VAT with an annual payment; connecting the calendar to external software costs 7,16 € incl. VAT per doctor per month. It does not submit reports to NHIF or maintain patient records. | A practice that wants patients to book appointments online while patient records remain in the dental software. | superdoc.bg, prices for doctors as of 17 October 2026 |
NZOK, PIS and NZIS: what the software needs to support
Two separate things are often confused. The report to the Health Insurance Fund is submitted in PIS, the NZOK portal, as an XML file in the format published by NZOK for dental doctors; the current format is for activities from 01.08.2024. Examinations, prescriptions, referrals and medical notes go to NZIS, the National Health Information System. Since 6 October 2026, dental examinations, dental status and treatment have been visible in the patient’s electronic health record in eZdrave. The software needs to do both and be updated whenever NZOK changes the formats or nomenclatures.
There is no free state-run program. When asked where to download free software, NZIS says that medical professionals work with products from private companies. There is no state list of “approved” programs either: DinoDent states directly that no license for communication with PIS and NZIS exists, and that the only requirement is an electronic signature. So the word “certified” in a program’s advertising means nothing, and some programs that rank highly in search results do not mention NZIS on their pages at all. The demo tells you what matters: ask to see how the monthly report is generated from the program and how an examination is signed and sent to NZIS.
If your practice works with the Health Insurance Fund, this is the first filter, and ready-made software wins on it. It passes these checks every month in hundreds of practices, while the provider monitors the changes for you.
How to calculate the cost over three years
Manufacturers count different things: Dentist and Niset-Dent count computers, Hipokrat and Dentist Server count doctors, while Denteu and AIDOO count users. Some show prices including VAT, others excluding VAT, and some do not specify. So compare the 36-month cost for your practice, not the line-item price.
For a practice with one doctor and one computer, based on the prices on the websites as of 17.10.2026 and our calculations: DinoDent 0 €. Niset-Dent: 3 × 150 €, 450 €, with no VAT specification. Hipokrat D: 3 × 159,52 €, 478,56 € excluding VAT. Denteu: 3 × 202,47 € with an annual subscription, 607,41 €. AIDOO with the NZOK package: 36 × 40 €, 1 440 €. Dentist: 180,00 € including VAT for the license, plus updates for the second and third years; ask EMG Soft for their price.
When there are two or three doctors, the calculation changes: with software that counts computers, a second doctor using the same computer costs nothing, while with software that counts users, each doctor adds another line. Add SMS packages, the X-ray module if you need it, online booking if you use it separately, and ask what format patients can be exported in if you change software after three years.
What remains in the dental software
Reporting to NZOK through PIS, along with examinations, prescriptions and referrals in NZIS, remains in the dental software. It is a regulated component, and six ready-made products in the comparison offer it today; we have not built it so far.
Everything around it is our work: the website with online booking, the dentists' and rooms' calendars, treatment plans, aesthetic procedures that do not go through the National Health Insurance Fund, the consumables warehouse and invoices.
When a custom system is worth it
We built the Dental Clinic demo at the request of a clinic offering dentistry and aesthetic treatments, with two or three specialists. It wanted two or three reception workstations, a schedule for dentists and rooms, patient records with X-rays and scans, and a treatment plan generated from the dental chart: which procedures, over how many visits and at what price. We offered two options: a digital reception with online booking for around half the price of the full system, and the full system with patient records, treatment plans and invoices.
A clinic like this has three needs that ready-made software handles poorly. Website bookings go straight into the dentist's calendar, without reception having to re-enter them. Each procedure has a stock norm and, when recorded, issues the consumables, so the manager can see costs by dentist and by month. Aesthetic procedures that do not go through the National Health Insurance Fund are in the same system with the invoice.
We make one thing clear in the very first conversation: if the clinic also works with NZOK, today that means reporting remains in the ready-made software. We check the requirements, assess the integration separately and include it in the quote. Double entry is a cost, and we calculate it in the quote rather than hiding it.
Website and booking first, programme later
Most practices that contact us want a website, not a programme. In our proposals for dental centres, we offer a website with services, team, gallery and an appointment request form within two weeks of receiving the copy and photos. A calendar for selecting an available time, with a bookings panel, is a separate optional line item. The full system comes when the practice grows into it, within the same programme, without moving patients over a second time.
For the Vida Luxe aesthetic clinic, we created a website with a separate page for each procedure and online appointment booking. If you only need booking and reminders, SuperDoc from the comparison is a ready-made service with a monthly fee per doctor. Booking directly through your own website makes sense when you want patients to stay on your website and appointments to go into your calendar, without a per-doctor fee.
What to ask before you choose
For every provider in the table, including us:
1. Show me how the monthly report to NZOK is generated from the programme and how it is submitted. 2. How is an examination signed and submitted to NZIS: with a KEP, with a signature tablet, immediately or at the end of the month? 3. Who updates the programme when NZOK changes its formats or nomenclature, and is there an additional charge? 4. Is the price per computer, doctor or user? Does it include VAT? 5. How much do SMS reminders cost, and is booking available from the website? 6. Where is the data stored: on the computer at the practice or in the cloud, and who makes the backups? 7. In what format can we export patients and images if we change programmes? 8. Can we see it in a working practice or use it on a trial basis with our patients?

Frequently asked questions
What is the best software for a dentist?
There is no one-size-fits-all option. For an NZOK practice, choose software that submits reports to PIS and examinations to NZIS, and ask to see it working: Dentist, Hipokrat D, Niset-Dent, DinoDent, Denteu or AIDOO. Then decide whether you want the software on the practice computer or in the cloud, and how you want to pay: per computer, doctor or user.
Is there free dental software that works with NZOK?
There is no state-run one: NZIS says that medical professionals work with products from private companies. There is a free private option: DinoDent, which is open source and submits reports to PIS, and examinations, prescriptions and referrals to NZIS. It has no CRM, inventory management or cash-register integration, as its website states.
How much does dental software cost?
According to the manufacturers’ websites as of 17.10.2026: DinoDent is free, Niset-Dent costs 150 € per year per workstation, Hipokrat D starts at 159,52 € excluding VAT per doctor per year, Dentist costs 180,00 € including VAT for a computer license, Denteu starts at 18,40 €, and AIDOO with NZOK costs 40 € per month. A custom system from us costs €3,000-€29,300, across 98 of our quotes as of 14 August 2026.
Cloud or desktop dental software?
Desktop software runs on the computer in the practice and does not depend on the internet for patient records, but you are responsible for the backups. Cloud software opens in any browser, with backups held by the provider, but it does not work without the internet. Ask both types how quickly operations can be restored after a failure.
Can Saitami build dental software that works with NZOK?
So far, we have not built reporting to NZOK or integration with NZIS, and we do not promise them. If you need them, we check the requirements and assess them separately in the proposal, or recommend a ready-made program. We build online booking, patient records, treatment plans, inventory and invoicing for €3,000-€29,300 according to across 98 of our quotes as of 14 August 2026.
Do I need new software or just online booking?
Start with booking: a Saitami website with a calendar of available appointments, reminders and deposits takes bookings from the website, while patient records and reports continue in the dental software. The full system comes when reception is re-entering bookings by hand or there are several practices.
Can I migrate my patients from the old program?
It depends on the export the old program provides, so ask about it before you buy it. Before launch, we migrate patients and their history from an Excel export or from the old program’s database, so you can start with all your patients.
